The detestable Jewish crowd

Are the gospels “anti-semitic”? The seed for Constantine’s rants about the detestable Jewish crowd who impiously defiled their hands with enormous sin? In Mark, the first gospel, the teachers of Jewish law and the temple elders kill Jesus, a populist preacher from the very Jewish backwater of Galilee. By the time John is written, the Jews kill him. By then, Jesus is no longer Jewish, no longer just a holy man. He has broken from his roots like the movement he founded. He is now Greek and God and wrestling with the Jews for their stories.

Mad Mel made an anti-semitic movie. No, it is based on the gospel stories. Yes, it is based on the gospels and so it is anti-semitic.
