Christ’s chosen successor wrote …
He [Christ] has granted to us … you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
As he promised, when he quoted an old Jewish song …
I said, “You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High.”
Before he came …
the race of man was perishing; the rational man made in God’s image was disappearing, and the handiwork of God was in process of dissolution
but after …
we might be made (God) gods
Careful though. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Still God is separate, distinct …
Wherefore He [Christ] is very God, existing one in essence with the very Father; while other beings, to whom He said,
I said ye are Gods, had this grace from the Father, only by participation of the Word [Christ].
You can only be somewhat divine. God raises but only so far.
