Life’s tales

Bedrocks of the west are the bible, the Christian bible, that Greek edifice on Jewish foundations, and Homer, the most Greek tale.

But we treat them differently. For so many, the bible is holy, a store of life lessons. Even to most who know him, Homer is merely admirable, just a tale. God’s alive you see. Zeus and his ilk are dead. You don’t heed the dead.
